A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Kaylah Love, whose body was discovered in Horan Park on Chicago’s West Side. Authorities report that she suffered multiple injuries from a violent attack.
Surveillance footage captured Kaylah walking with the suspect from a nearby McDonald’s on the evening of March 16, 2025. Not long after, the teen allegedly assaulted her using his fists, feet, and a glass bottle. A witness contacted the police to report the attack, but Kaylah’s body was not found until the following day.
The suspect was arrested on March 23, and police recovered clothing at his home that matched what was seen in the surveillance footage. Investigators also found that he had searched online for information about potential prison sentences for teenagers convicted of murder.
Kaylah, a high school junior with dreams of becoming a chef, was remembered by family and friends at a vigil in Horan Park. Meanwhile, the Chicago Police Department is under scrutiny for its response to the initial 911 call, as questions arise about whether officers took the report seriously.
The suspect remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 16.
